Frank Lloyd Wright’s Martin House unveiled a striking new art installation by Filipino-American artist and designer Cheyenne Concepcion. Titled Fiat Lux, the installation opens to the public on September 12, 2025 and marks the culmination of Concepcion’s residency as one of the 2025 Martin House Creative Residents.

Installed in the Martin House’s Eleanor and Wilson Greatbatch Pavilion, Fiat Lux transforms the space with suspended cyanotypes and vinyl decals that reimagine one of Wright’s iconic architectural elements: the central fireplace. Drawing from Wright’s intentional use of light to shape mood and perception, Concepcion creates a dreamlike environment that gives visitors the feeling of walking through a blueprint.

“I was drawn to the way Wright used light, not just to brighten a space, but to shape how it feels and how people move through it,” said Cheyenne Concepcion. “Fiat Lux takes familiar things, like a fireplace or a blueprint, and helps you see them in a new way.”

Based in New York, Concepcion’s multidisciplinary practice explores the intersections of cultural memory, migration, and the built environment. Her work has been exhibited nationally, and she was recently featured in The New York Times article “The Peacock Chair and the Black Experience” for her exploration of aesthetics and identity in design.

“The Martin House Creative Residency offers artists a unique opportunity to engage deeply with one of Wright’s masterpieces,” said Jessie Fisher, CEO of Frank Lloyd Wright’s Martin House. “Cheyenne’s work is a beautiful example of how contemporary art can spark new conversations within historic spaces.”

A special preview night for Martin House members will be held on September 11 from 6-7:30pm featuring an artist talk by Concepcion and an intimate walkthrough of the installation. The installation will be open to the public September 12 through October 27 in the Martin House’s Eleanor and Wilson Greatbatch Pavilion located at 143 Jewett Parkway.
