This docent-led tour experience will inspire visitors with an understanding of the relationship between the landscape and home that Wright designed for the Martin family. The restored landscape is one of the finest examples of Wright’s desire to integrate nature and design, and also serves as a testament to Darwin and Isabelle Martin’s love of gardening.
Visitors will step inside the Wright-designed Gardener’s Cottage and the primary spaces on the 1st floor of the Martin House, including a view of the gardens from the verandah. Specific areas of the landscape explored on the tour include the courtyard garden, the greenhouse footprint, the ‘floricycle,’ and the Barton House gardens. Note that this tour does not enter the Barton House.
This experience includes both interior and exterior spaces, so please plan for the weather.
There is stair-climbing, considerable walking, and standing involved on this tour. This tour is not wheelchair accessible.
