Memory Cafe – Architecture & Nature
The Memory Café provides a nurturing and social atmosphere where caregivers and individuals facing memory challenges, such as Alzheimer’s or other forms of dementia, can find respite through casual conversations and collaborative activities. This inviting space is designed to promote quality time and strengthen connections.
Guests and their caregivers will participate in an interactive presentation about the various rocks used in Graycliff’s architecture and landscape. The discussion will highlight how Wright harvested materials directly from the 65-foot cliff and beach below, incorporating local limestone and sand into Graycliff’s construction to create a seamless connection between the building and its natural environment. Participants will have the opportunity to handle and examine an assortment of rocks and fossils, experiencing their unique qualities through touch. Everyone will create their own fossil rubbing artwork using paper and drawing materials to capture the intricate patterns and textures of these natural treasures. Coffee and snacks will be provided.
This FREE program is tailored for individuals experiencing early to mid-stage memory loss. Please note that the Martin House is not fully ADA accessible.
