The Martin House sits in the historic Parkside neighborhood, designed by famous landscape architect Frederick Law Olmsted. The area contains superb examples of diverse architectural styles of homes that surround our estate, so we encourage you to plan a little time to walk the neighborhood during your visit.
As you plan your visit, note that we are just north of the downtown core and not too far from Niagara Falls, with easy access to the local expressways.
Frank Lloyd Wright’s Graycliff
A 30-minute drive from Martin House, the Wright-designed, sun-filled summer home of the Martins sits on 8 acres on the shore of Lake Erie. The three buildings on the estate are set amidst extensive grounds and gardens.
Graycliff (1926-31) can be experienced through a variety of tours and events, and combination tour tickets to visit both the Martin House and Graycliff are now available monthly.
The Great Wright Road Trip
We have partnered with Wright sites in Western Pennsylvania, including Fallingwater and Kentuck Knob, to create a road trip to remember. Experience eight sites designed during very different periods of Wright’s career, all within an easy four-hour drive that includes miles of scenic countryside, bountiful vineyards, roadside farm stands, and regional food specialties that make this road trip a particularly special slice of the American experience.
Your visits to the Wright sites will inspire you–and leave you with an appreciation for two of his greatest patrons and advocates: the Kaufmann family of Pittsburgh and the Martin family of Buffalo. Their support nurtured, sustained and inspired Wright to do some of the greatest work of his career – classic designs that have been protected, preserved and restored for public enjoyment.
Beyond architecture, Buffalo is a world-class arts destination with a long list of galleries and art centers to explore.
Buffalo AKG Art Museum
Located just minutes from the Martin House, the Buffalo AKG Art Museum is one of the oldest museums dedicated to the art of our time with an extraordinary collection of modern and contemporary bodies of work. The museum reopened in June, 2023 after a highly-anticipated campus expansion, the most significant project in the 160-year history of the museum.
And just a 30-minute drive away, lovers of the American Arts and Crafts Movement will want to explore East Aurora, NY.
Located in the quaint Village of East Aurora, a visit to the Roycroft Campus provides an experience rich with history and architecture, inspiring visitors to experience the creativity and ideals of the Arts and Crafts Movement. The Campus is across the street from the Roycroft Inn, an excellent choice for dining and lodging.
