Frank Lloyd Wright’s Martin House is pleased to announce that it has received a grant in the amount of $13,500 from Parks and Trails New York. Funds will be used to retain a curatorial intern who will support the second phase of a comprehensive collections cataloging project.
Parks and Trails New York generously supported the first phase of the important project, designed to strengthen the stewardship of the collections and make them more accessible. The work includes documenting the Martin House collections by creating a consistent, accurate, fully illustrated, and searchable database. This collections management system will serve as an online portal providing improved access to these important cultural assets—now and well into the future. Highlights include an extensive collection of Wright-designed art glass and furniture, as well as fine groupings of Japanese woodcut prints, decorative art objects, and personal items once owned by the Martin Family.
Parks and Trails New York is the leading statewide advocate dedicated to enhancing the preservation, stewardship, interpretation, maintenance, and promotion of New York’s parks, trails, state historic sites, and public lands. $900,000 in partnership grants were awarded in total to 30 New York State non-profits through this most recent round of awards.
