Architecture Workshop with Explore Buffalo.

The Architecture workshop will satisfy all requirements for the merit badge. Scouts will talk with an architect, tour the Martin House and parts of downtown and practice measuring and designing plans. This workshop will be at the Martin House and Explore Buffalo. Scouts must have transportation. Please bring lunch.
$20 per scout, $10 per adult

Family tours of the Martin House are available following the program for an additional $5/person. The tour is 45 minutes. Let us know if you would like to reserve a spot on the tour. Note: $5 tour are only available to people that attend the full workshop.

Texture of the Martin House
Participants will learn about the different textures of the Martin House, will embark on a texture scavenger hunt, make crayon rubbing art, and create a final masterpiece to take home.
Saturday, June 9 10:30 AM – 12:00 PM
Participants will learn about Fibonacci numbers and how they can translate into shapes. Map out your own design and see how Frank Lloyd Wright used geometric shapes in his art glass window designs.
Saturday, July 14 10:30 AM – 12:00 PM
Participants will learn about different geometric shapes and how they can be put together to make your very own kite! See the end result floating about in the sky (weather permitting).

Shapes in Nature
What do we learn from shapes in nature? What can they teach us? Take a look at the restored landscape in process and learn about the different flowers and trees that are being planted. Collect shapes that we find from the landscape and create a “living” design.
